Get InvolvedWe are happy about everyone who joins as a volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us. The different ways of volunteering are described below. For any questions, consult the FAQ page or contact us. Click onto the locations link to see the nearest group to you. Car Drivers (one Sunday a month) Drivers collect the same elderly person/s (one or two) each trip and
take them to a different home and take part in the tea-party. Hosts (One, or maybe two, Sunday/s a year)Hosts provide a tea-party lasting between two and three hours. This entails entertaining perhaps a dozen elderly guests and their drivers. Afternoon tea is usually served. Sometimes Hosts' families are also involved with two, three or four generations joining in. The only essential condition is a downstairs toilet. Group Coordinators (usually a driver as well)Coordinators organise the Sunday visits by liaising with the Hosts and advising the car drivers. Support is available through the Head Office or a Regional Development Officer/Area Organiser for additional Hosts, Drivers or Elderly guests, as well as local publicity/advertising advice and guidance. Area OrganisersArea Organisers set up and oversee Contact the Elderly groups in particular geographical areas. They are often coordinators of their own groups, whilst also supporting other Group Coordinators in their given area. Full support is provided through the Head Office and/or Regional Development Officer. DonationsThese are both welcome and necessary, as the cost of running, maintaining and developing the charity's network of volunteers is significant. |
